The Wong Way
Back in July 2006, I bought my first digital SLR camera. The very next day, I brought it with me to Siren Festival in Coney Island. Although the shots from that concert didn't turn out too hot - too far away, too much of a novice with the camera - I wasn't deterred from future attempts at concert shooting. Ultimately, I decided to start a musicblog, titled The Wong Way, featuring photos I took from the concerts I went to. It ran regularly from July 2006 to December 2006 and while I'd like to start it back up some day, I prefer to just enjoy concerts from the sidelines. But who knows what the future will bring, right?
The Kooks @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC 23.10.2006
The Kooks, the latest buzz band from the United Kingdom – can’t say “this year’s British buzz band” since this is the same year as the Arctic Monkeys craze – finally made their way to New York City, performing at Bowery Ballroom last night. While I thought they were fun enough and quite entertaining to watch, the music wasn’t too spectacular. Everyone else around me seemed to enjoy themselves so it may just be a matter of giving their album more of a listen. Also, I think that lead singer Luke Pritchard may have a little too much swagger for a band that’s only been around for all of ten minutes.
Oh, to the jackass who was riding on someone’s shoulder who that you could either continue to hold onto your mixed drink or hurl your drink far enough to reach the band – you are an idiot and you’re no Peyton Manning. Thanks for completely dousing me in your drink – you may want to consider moderating your consumption of alcohol in the future.

Yes man you should really take a second listen to the kooks` record. I think they are really rare this day and age, a band with real lyrics and music culture. A great rock Band.
They don`t have to make excuses for anything musically, they are really talented, and Luke frontman’s voice and carisma really brings it out there.
I hope they`re lucky enough not to loose this eclectic style and harmonious vibes.
Cheers.
