The Baseball Project :: Volume 1: Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails
Inserting “Volume 1″ into the title leaves me hopeful there will be a second album some day from this collection of artists.

Deerhunter :: Microcastle

Foals :: Antidotes

Franz Ferdinand :: Tonight
A more solid effort than the criminally rushed You Could Have It So Much Better though not nearly as good as their debut.

The Lonely Island :: Incredibad
The Lonely Island have amassed a following with their digital shorts on Saturday Night Live. Those shorts – often the highlight of the episodes they appear in – are the foundation of their debut album Incredibad, making up seven of the 19 tracks. Even though I’ve heard those songs already, I still love them, owing to short length of the songs – brevity is better is musical comedy – and the repeated utterances of lines to allow their sheer absurdity to sink in.

Beirut :: March of the Zapotec/Holland EP
Holland gets a little weird, owing to the fact that it’s Beirut doing electronic music but it’s a good kind of weird, if that makes any sense.

A.C. Newman :: Get Guilty

Animal Collective :: Merriweather Post Pavilion
It gets the high rating for “My Girls” alone. Merriweather Post Pavilion is most definitely their most accessible, pop-like album to date.

Cold War Kids :: Loyalty to Loyalty
Two full-length albums in and it’s becoming painfully obvious that they can’t recapture whatever they had in their EPs that made them so much fun to listen to in the first place.
