After we finished our one beer at Tria, we got out of there as fast as we could so we get some food at Ludwig’s Garten. We must have been tired because we barely finished our food – some, not at all – and had difficulty killing our beers. But, god damn, do I love me some schnitzel.

<

By the time we finished our meal at Ludwig’s, we all felt like we were going to die so it seemed prudent to relax back at our hotel a bit. Soon, we got a second wind and went back to Monk’s Café, a place we already tallied off our list back in April. At least we got their signature Monk’s Flemish Sour Red Ale this time.

Our first stop of the weekend on the Beer Advocate Top 50 list – The Drafting Room Taproom Grille in Exton, just outside of Philadelphia. This was my favorite stop of the weekend as far as places on the list went. The only drawback was the smoking in the taproom but, as this is not New York City, there wasn’t really anything that could be done to prevent that.

Justin waits for our beers.

The nice selection of beers on tap.

In addition to the taps, they have a large selection of bottles – even better, they sell mix packs of bottles to take home.

Our first beer – the Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence.

With yet more driving to go on the day, we got a flight of 5.5-ounce samples. From left to right: Legacy Midnight Wit, Lagunitas Brown Shugga’, Troegs Naked Elf, Victory ESB.

In May of last year, Beer Advocate put out a list of the Top 50 Places to Have a Beer in America. Big fans of the Beer Advocate site they are, Aaron and Justin devoured the list and came up with one of the greatest ideas I have ever heard – to attempt to go to every single place on the list. Sometime in late October, they, along with Jeremy and myself, began to tally places off the list by starting off in Williamsburg.

The many beers on tap at Barcade.

The entrance to Mugs Ale House.

Jeremy and Aaron (you can sorta see Justin) entering Mugs.

The totally nondescript entrance to Spuyten Duyvil. If you’re not looking for it, you won’t notice it.

The guys ordering beer at Spuyten Duyvil.

Some interesting stuff behind the counter here.

Three places down, forty-seven to go!
