It appeared that Jim had more than we had – at the very least, he was definitely further gone than we were. Who cares – it’s Jim fuckin’ Koch!

Not having seen the first season of Top Chef, I didn’t know much about Harold Deiterle’s performance on the show. All I’d seen of his cooking was in the Season 1 vs. Season 2 challenge, which is to say, not very much at all. This past summer, he opened up his own restaurant – though, technically, he co-owns the place – Perilla. Finally able to get a reservation, I went with a few friends for dinner last week.

Cindy and Won before enjoying our meal.

After enjoying a great meal, I asked to go out back into the kitchen to compliment and thank the chef. When we got back there, Harold was putting the finishing touches on an entree.

The dish Harold was working on.

Satisfied with the dish, Harold has his wait staff send it out.

After exchanging handshakes and a brief conversation, Harold was back to work.
