The Grey Lodge Pub
Our final stop in Philadelphia came on the second morning of our trip at The Grey Lodge Pub. Sure, we got there at 11am for brunch and you may think that’s too early for a beer. Well, it probably was but that certainly didn’t deter us from our goal of having a beer at each place.
Tria
Having made our way into Philly, the next bar on our list was Tria. Located in downtown Philadelphia, it’s a long but narrow space with a too many people crammed into a confined area. The atmosphere was a little too highbrow for my tastes but it did have a few decent beers on tap.
The Drafting Room Taproom and Grille
Our first stop of the weekend on the Beer Advocate Top 50 list – The Drafting Room Taproom Grille in Exton, just outside of Philadelphia. This was my favorite stop of the weekend as far as places on the list went. The only drawback was the smoking in the taproom but, as this is not New York City, there wasn’t really anything that could be done to prevent that.
Capone’s Restaurant
This past weekend, we trekked out to Pennsylvania to notch another four places off of the Beer Advocate Top 50 list. Before we got to a place that was on the list, we made a stop at Capone’s in Norristown, PA to buy some hard to get beers. While we were there, we had a beer – plus a sample of one not on the tap list.
Drinks and Dinner in the East Village
A couple of nights ago, a bunch of Binghamton folks got together to have a few – ok, maybe more than a few – drinks at Hop Devil in the East Village.
Belgian Beer Fest – Night of the Funk
A few weeks back, I went with a couple of friends to Beer Advocate’s Return of the Belgian Beer Fest. We passed on the main Saturday sessions, choosing to plunk down our money for the more expensive, but much more enjoyable Night of the Funk.
Blue Point Brewing Company
Our final stop before getting to the Southampton Publick House was the Blue Point Brewing Company. A brewery on Long Island on a Saturday afternoon – yup, you guessed it – lots of frat-boys wanting free samples.
Captain Lawrence Brewing Company
The first stop on our way to eastern LI was the Captain Lawrence Brewing Company.
Chilling @ Applewood
Before embarking on a lenthy day of breweries/bars, we spent a relaxing evening at Applewood Estates with burgers and beers.
Southampton Publick House
Continuing our quest to visit all of Beer Advocate’s Top 50 Places to Have a Beer in America, we made our way to the eastern tip of New York state to have a few beers (and a meal) at the Southampton Publick House.
