Dinner @ Perilla
Not having seen the first season of Top Chef, I didn’t know much about Harold Deiterle’s performance on the show. All I’d seen of his cooking was in the Season 1 vs. Season 2 challenge, which is to say, not very much at all. This past summer, he opened up his own restaurant – though, technically, he co-owns the place – Perilla. Finally able to get a reservation, I went with a few friends for dinner last week.

Dinner @ Grace
Grace has a great atmosphere and pretty good food. Most importantly, they place a decent mix of music – James Blunt being the exception.

Durgin Park @ Boston, MA
On one of the nights when I was in Boston, a couple of us had dinner at Durgin Park in Faneuil Hall. It had some good reviews and the location was in a good place.
The verdict? I’ve had better – much better. This place was not worth the prices they charged.
The baked shrimp I had for dinner.

Recession Special @ Gray’s Papaya
Sometimes, you just need a nice cheap meal that hits the spot. For $2.75 at Gray’s Papaya, you get two hot dogs that are the best this side of Nathan’s Famous, as well as a drink.

10¢ wings @ Croxley Ales
10¢ wings – just the sound of those words strung together bring me back to my college days. Before Susan and I headed over to see Asobi Seksu at Bowery Ballroom, we had dinner with Michael at Croxley Ales. In addition to their wing specials, I had heard they had great sweet potato fries.
The wings were decent – nothing spectacular but, hey, they were 10¢ each so I really can’t complain.
